coaching & editing servicespersonal & professional coachingI offer services as a life coach and a dissertation coach. I’m excited about the interactive coaching process where the dynamic between us sparks exploration, possibility, and action. I have taken the Coaches Training Institute basic curriculum. The CTI model is upbeat, future-oriented, and focused on getting things done. It assumes that we are all naturally resourceful, creative, and whole, and places your integrity, values, and choices at the center of our work together. I am available to work over the phone or in person, starting with a sample session. There is no charge for this first call or meeting. Phone sessions may be half-hour, 45-minutes, or an hour, depending on your schedule and needs. I also offer half-day or day-long intensives where we meet in person. Together we design a way of working that suits your needs and goals. Between calls we use e-mail for any questions, to help you keep on task, and for you to let me know your progress. The focus is on your agenda and you make the change. Given my work history, I’m particularly interested in coaching writers, graduate students, and people who work in progressive organizations. I also enjoy helping people move forward on “back burner” projects and changes. I use my skills and experience to help you focus on what really matters to you, to make your dreams and plans a reality, to help you invest in yourself. My goal is to help you create the life you want to live.To help us get started, I've created preparation pages for Life Coaching (28k PDF) and Dissertation Coaching (40k PDF). editingAs an editor, I want your writing to capture your readers’ full attention. I want it to project your ideas, promote your research, strengthen your advocacy, and give voice to your passion. I am a developmental editor who helps you to clarify your thoughts in the early stages and organize your material in a compelling way. You may be working on a short article or report, or undertaking a college thesis or book-length dissertation. We can work in person, over the phone, and through e-mail, pacing our sessions to your schedule. I also do fine-grain editing towards the end of a project—cutting redundancy, moving things around to change emphasis or improve flow, finding fresh ways to make a point so that your writing sparkles. E-mail works well for this, with follow-up phone conversations where necessary. I help people overcome barriers between academics and activists --- working with organizers to communicate and “package” their research so that academics and policy-makers will recognize its validity and authoritativeness. I also work with people for whom English is a second language, ensuring job letters, essays, and academic papers are grammatical and in idiomatic English so you can be confident that everything you send out reflects well on your knowledge and abilities. |
