teaching & talks

I give talks on campuses and am available to teach courses concerning women and the military (76k PDF); war and peace; feminism and the environment (68k PDF); environmental issues (92k PDF); and introductory women’s studies courses.

I am also involved in community teaching/learning events including an anti-military fashion show, (link to www.coloredgirls.org/programs/peacesol_fashion.htm), a curriculum on gender and militarism for progressive organizations, and events initiated by the East Asia-US-Puerto Rico Women’s Network against Militarism.

Current themes for campus talks and lectures are:

  • Women’s Lives, Women’s Organizing
  • Redefining Security
  • Feminism and Peace Building
  • Activist Stories of Cleanup and Healing from Contamination Caused by Military Operations & War
  • Military Budgets and the Global Economy

I chaired the Women’s Studies program at Antioch College (1992-95) and have held teaching positions at several US colleges and universities (for more information, please visit my Biography page).

Currently I am in classrooms across the country through Women’s Lives: Multicultural Perspectives, the women’s studies text-reader I edit with Margo Okazawa-Rey, now in its fourth edition (McGraw-Hill 2007).
